What if I told you that your New Year’s resolutions may be doomed to fail?
Ok…let me REPHRASE this.

We start the second round of VISION QUEST on April 22, 2024 meeting weekly online via ZOOM from 6-7pm!
Here are some points to ponder first though:
1) If you are familiar at all with my teachings, you know I’m going to say you don’t have to DO a bleepin’ thing to be BETTER, PERFECT, MORE LOVABLE or MORE WORTHY.
You ALREADY are WHOLE and WORTHY of love and success and belonging just by being your own amazing, brilliant, unique and quirky self. (You’re a unique soul in a human body!)
2) As humans we have an innate drive for GROWTH and CHANGE; that’s what separates us from other mammals and animals! We want PROGRESS, but not progress just for progress’ sake; our SOUL desires growth in all realms of the human experience.
Yet change can be DAUNTING and FRUSTRATING because we want it NOW. People who have had success in changing areas of their lives know how important SMALL, BABY steps are regarding meeting their goals.
That’s because the brain likes to go SLOW and METHODICALLY and the NERVOUS SYSTEM needs to feel SAFE and SECURE, otherwise, it’s all TOO FAST, TOO SOON and just adds to your stress level! (No good!)
3) When making changes it’s VITAL to have someone (preferably multiple people) in your corner to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE you as well as to tell you when you are not acting or thinking in your HIGHEST SELF. (We all need honesty sometimes!)
JUST IMAGINE…
Take a moment to imagine what these 8 areas of your life (based on SAMHSA.gov’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness) would look and feel like if you COULD follow through on your goals, plans and deepest desires:
*BODY: you feel healthy and energized and experience vitality
*MIND: you develop a GROWTH MINDSET, expand your knowledge and creativity
*SPIRIT: you develop a deep and meaningful spiritual life that feeds your soul
*WORK/HOBBIES/PURPOSE: you have work that you love and if retired, you have hobbies and interests that feed your purpose in life
*RELATIONSHIPS: you have meaningful and deep relationships with your partner/spouse, friends, colleagues & community
*FINANCES: you deal with money scarcity issues, clean up your budget and develop a financial plan
*EMOTIONS: you feel your emotions instead of stuffing them and improve your coping skills
*HOME/ENVIRONMENT: you create a living environment that feels so good to you that you can’t wait to come home every day & you develop practices to make the world a healthier place to be for all
Trying to meet ALL of these goals in January without a solid plan or support or the understanding of how behavioral change happens will only lead to failure. YOU aren’t a failure; just the way you may try too hard and go for the BIG CHANGE is a sure way to experience frustration!

TRUE, DEEP and MEANINGFUL CHANGE TAKES TIME, DEVOTION, DEDICATION and COMPASSION.
And for those of us raised in the Western culture, we just want everything NOW!
So, if you want a quick solution, you have to look elsewhere.
